приехала домой, а чувствую себя как беженец. обуви почти нет,одежды тоже... только то, что в торопях собрала и в чём приехала. Поездка внеплановая и , соответственно, планов нет. буду развлекать себя племяхой и джимом, Сева жди меня в клубе. если у кого есть желание меня развлеч, то я только за. в другой ситиуациии я бы радовалась внезапно свалившимся длинным каникулам, но не сейчас. сейчас хочу обратно.

LCJ Update: Important Notice about comleting your courses (Academic & EAP)

Dear Students

I hope all of you are well and safe.



Reluctantly, we have decided to cancel classes for the remainder of this term because (1) we are concerned that this is a time when many of you need to be in a safe place or with your families; (2) we need to make some minor repairs to the building before classes can start again, (3) we realize that many of you may face problems commuting to Tokyo from distant suburban areas. We are sorry that we have had to take this action and hope you will understand our need to do it.



If you decide to move from your current location to another one, please inform us, so that we know where you are.



Do not worry about your grades at this time. We have set up guidelines for both Academic and EAP students. See those guidelines below.



Take care of yourselves, and I am looking forward to seeing you when the new term starts.

Academic Guidelines

You will have several options from your teachers on grading which includes: (1) accepting the grade you have earned up to this point in a particular class, (2) finishing the work or tests your teachers have assigned you by April 8 or (3) taking an incomplete grade and finishing the work assigned by April 25. If you choose to receive an incomplete grade, you need to accept the terms of the agreement I have pasted at the end of this message.

You can choose the option that best suits you. Your teachers will be contacting you in the next few days to tell you what you need to do. If you do not hear from any of your teachers by Tuesday, March 22, please let me know, and I will check into the situation.

I will send you a message tomorrow about registration, so be sure to look for it.

EAP Guidelines

There will not be any more EAP classes until the next semester begins on April 25. However, your hard work this semester will count just like it does in any semester.

Grades: Your teachers will calculate your grades based on what you have done so far this semester. This semester has 54 class days and we have met on 43 of those days. In other words, we have completed 80% of the semester. Your teachers have more than enough information (quizzes, essays, paragraphs, speeches, midterm exams, etc.) to calculate your grades. In other words, all students will receive Skill and Performance grades as usual and will receive credit for this semester.



You will receive your grades in the mail during the 2nd week of April. After the new students take their placement tests on April 18th, a class schedule will be made and LCJ will contact you as to whether you will be an AM or PM student. Summer semester classes begin April 25th.

TOEFL: LCJ has a TOEFL test for new students on April 18. Because last week’s TOEFL was cancelled, you may take it on that day (*it’s optional). If you would like to take TOEFL on April 18, please contact LCJ (call the school) by March 24th at 2:00 PM.

Keeping up your English: Please do as much English study as you can during the next month. For example, you should continue doing the same outside-class listening practice that you have done for your classes. I will send an email to all of you soon with some independent-study tips. Please check your LCJ mail account!

みなさんご存じのように、残念ながらレイクランド大学ジャパン・キャンパスの春学期はこのまま休校となりました。４月２５日の夏学期までEAPの授業はないということになります。しかしながらみなさんが行ってきた努力は、今までと同じようにみなさんのことを裏切ることはありません。



成績について：

今学期の成績は、担当教授が今学期の今までのみなさんの成果により判断いたします。今学期は各クラス54回の授業の内、43回の授業をすでに行っていますが、これは今学期の約80％の授業を終了していることになります。担当教授は成績をつけるために必要なクイズ、エッセイ、パラグラフ、スピーチ、中間試験などの重要な情報を十分に持っています。つまりEAPの学生には通常通りパフォーマンスとスキルの成績が出ます。成績は４月の第2週に郵送でお送りします。午前のクラスか午後のクラスかについては４月１８日の週にご連絡します。また、新しく教養課程に進む学生については、オリエンテーションおよび履修登録の日程も成績と一緒にお送りします。



TOEFLについて：

LCJでは新入生のクラス分けテストとして４月１８日（月）9：00にTOEFLを行います。今学期はTOEFLを実施できませんでしたので、もしTOEFL受験を希望する方はこの日に受験できます。希望する方は必ず３月２４日（木）午後２時までに事務局までお電話にてご連絡ください。



英語の勉強について：

次の学期まで、なるべく英語に触れるようにしましょう。例えば授業外で行っているリスニングプラクティスなどはそのまま続けましょう。みなさんには私（Roger先生）からEメールでStudy Tipsをお送りしますので、LCJメールをチェックしてください！

Японию посетило страшное горе, от которого никто не застрахован. Мы все переживаем эту страшную катастрофу, видя, как страдают люди на месте эпицентра где

LCJ Update:No one is injured at LCJ (English & Japanese)

Dear Students

I hope all of you are in safe places now. Our thoughts are with you and your families. We have checked with all students by email or telephone, and we are happy to report that no one has been injured.

If you decide to leave Tokyo, please let us know where you are by email or telephone.

We are considering reopening the school for classes on Tuesday, Mar. 22, but the reopening will depend how the situation develops. If we do reopen, we will leave it up to each student if he or she can attend classes. Please check the blog and your email for updates.

Don’t worry about exams or other academic commitments. We plan to be flexible. Academic students should keep in contact with their instructors for each of their classes about what they need to do.

We realize that some of you may have left your textbooks at school, so if you have received an assignment to read the textbook, let your teacher know your situation. Some of you may not have electricity or access to computers, so we will take that in consideration too.

Take care of yourselves and lets hope and pray that the emergency situation will soon be over. Take care of yourselves.

LCJ Update: Classes Break for One Week (English & Japanese)

Dear Students:

We hope all of you and your families are safe. We have decided to close the school this week to ensure your safety and to ease your parents’ worries because of recent events and sporadic train service. Please stay at home and don’t try to travel unless it is absolutely necessary. At this time, we expect classes to resume on Tuesday, March 22, depending on circumstances. I am sorry I cannot at this time be more precise as the situation is vary fluid, and we have to take each day as it comes.

Please check your LCJ Mail account and the LCJ blog frequently for updates on the situation.

The TOEFL test for EAP and graduating students is postponed until March 25. This date may change depending on the situation.

We have decided to postpone registration for the Summer term until next week. At this time we plan to follow the schedule below:

Tuesday Mar 22 – First day registrants
Wednesday Mar 23 – second day registrants
Thursday Mar. 24 – third day registrants
Friday Mar. 25 – fourth day registrants

School activities scheduled for this week are also being postponed. These activities include:

* The International Festival
* The Lecture on the Future of the Korean Peninsula by David Satterwhite
* The coffee club
* The LCW Application Session

All of us at LCJ are very concerned about you and your families. Let us know if we can be of any assistance in this difficult time. We will notify you on the blog and by email of any changes in the above schedule. Take care of yourselves and be assured you are on our minds.

Такие странные чувства... С одной стороны, я не хочу бросать ребят и уезжать. С другой, очень хочеЦа хотя бы часок поспать... А то после землятрясения сплю урывками.

Надеюсь вернуться как можно раньше. Скорее бы все разрешилось.

Dear Students,

I hope you arrived home safely. Friday was a traumatic day, but all of you handled yourselves exceptionally well both during and after the quake. We are proud of you. In particular, some of you pitched in to clean the library without being asked and that initiative is greatly appreciated.

For those of you who were forced to spend the night at LCJ because most trains had stopped running, you conducted yourselves extremely well, and we really appreciate that you put the classrooms back in order before leaving for your homes. Thank you for showing responsibility and for performing the cleaning tasks.

Many of you are wondering what will happen on Monday. Since trains are back on schedule and life is returning to normal in Tokyo, it is best for us to also follow our usual life patterns. Therefore, barring any further quakes or other problems, we should meet for classes as usual on Monday. I hope you were able to rest this weekend and that you will be ready for classes on Monday. This includes classes for the EAP and Academic students, and the TOEFL exam scheduled for the EAP students will stay as scheduled. If you have any problems coming to school on Monday, please let us know by email or telephone.

Once again, ALL CLASSES WILL RESUME ON MONDAY, MARCH 14, AS SCHEDULED.
